First-year enrolment & first week¶
Dear first-year students, welcome to the beginning of your studies! We are looking forward to meeting you in person and helping you get settled into university life. Please read the following information carefully regarding enrolment and the activities during your first week.
Enrolment – 9 September¶
Your enrolment will take place in person on Wednesday, 9 September. You do not need to complete any enrolment online in advance.
Location: Dean's Office / Aula Magna — Malá Hora 4A, 036 01 Martin
Documents¶
If you have not already submitted the following documents, please bring them with you to the enrolment:
- Secondary education certificate with an apostille and an official translation into English or Slovak
- If you are required to have your secondary education recognised, please follow the instructions in the attached document
- Medical certificate
- Confirmation of vaccination against hepatitis B
- Copy of your birth certificate, or another official document providing detailed information about your place of birth
If you have already submitted these documents, you do not need to submit them again.
Information for students from non-EU countries¶
Students from non-EU countries can find detailed guides and instructions regarding the documents and procedures they need to complete here: Welcome Centre — temporary residency.
Please read the relevant guide carefully and make sure that you complete all required steps and provide any necessary documents within the required deadlines. If you need assistance or further information, you can email me.
Administrative enrolment meeting¶
On Wednesday, we will also have an administrative enrolment meeting. Please bring an ID document for identification.
During the meeting, you will sign several documents, including your first-year study plan with the subjects you are enrolled in. All first-year students will be enrolled in all mandatory first-year subjects. You will also have the opportunity to choose optional subjects. The available optional subjects are:
- Physical Education (PE)
- Medical Chemistry
- Latin Terminology
- Effective Learning Methods
You may add your chosen optional subjects during the enrolment meeting on Wednesday.
Orientation Week¶
The Orientation Week organised by older students starts on Monday. You will receive further information about the programme and activities in a separate email.
Optional subject introductory lectures¶
On Thursday and Friday, you will have the opportunity to attend introductory lectures for two optional subjects:
- Chemistry
- Latin Terminology
These sessions are intended to help you become familiar with the subjects and may help you decide which optional subjects would be most useful for you, particularly in relation to the mandatory subjects in the first-year curriculum.
Other useful information¶
During Wednesday, you will also receive important information and guidance regarding:
- Health and safety
- IT services and systems
- The library and library system
- Introduction to your studies and other practical matters
Attendance during the enrolment and introductory activities is mandatory. If you are unable to attend due to a serious reason, please inform me by email in advance.
